The Mental & Emotional Benefits of Working Out
September 9, 2020I get asked all the time where I work out. It’s a question that usually feels random and out of place. And for that reason, I generally just smile and keep going. But that’s not really the question they are asking or the answer they want to hear. What they really want to know is what they need to do to look bigger, feel stronger, and maybe walk a little taller.
The secret to a great body is in what you do.

I grew up watching Sylvester Stallone in Rocky movies. As a kid, I had no idea the body could look like that! And based on what Stallone was filming, I thought the best way to get ripped and thick was to do things outside of the gym. Literally everything he did in those movies I did at home, or at least I tried. I was a Little League All-Star doing push-ups in the backyard or on the pool deck trying to build strength, stamina, and speed, and the whole time thinking “I’m going to be like Rocky someday.” Maybe you did the same.
in 2020, you can do anything you want from the gym or from home. So these days, especially during COVID, my go-to is the home-gym my wife made look way cooler than I could have imagined.

Your home gym doesn’t have to look like mine, but the principles are the same. Activity develops fitness. Weight-training develops strength. Calories provide energy. Keep those three things in mind and you have the makings of your own great fitness facility.
